THE PSYCHEDELIC FUZZ - LIVE ON WKDU (2006) [2023 REMASTER]

When I started at Drexel University in 2005, I wasn't too excited about being a student but I knew the main reason I wanted to go to the school was to work at 91.7 WKDU, the only free-format, non-commercial radio station in Philadelphia. This was at a critical point in Philly radio as well since our only designated rock station, WMMR, went off the air that year and if you wanted to hear weird or obscure or ambient or loud or obnoxious music, then we were the one-stop shop for anyone in about a 50-mile radius. I met Erica Corbo about as soon as I started the training process there and we became fast friends. Over the next few years, we were roommates and regularly contributed to each other's musical projects. I recorded the full-length album for her experimental, psych-folk jam band The Psychedelic Fuzz and then, a few months later, I produced a live session for them on WKDU (And, as the chief engineer, I briefly had the ability to do things like that.) The band, consisting of Dave (bass, mandolin), Tim (guitar), Ray (drums) and Erica (keys, vocals) was really terrific. They had complex songs and great musicianship. I had this session sitting on a hard drive for the past 17 years or so and I feel good now that I've cleaned up the audio a bit. I wish that the bass would punch through past the kick a bit more but I'm still happy with how it turned out. Erica calls out all of the track titles during the session except for track 2. I felt like the name was something like "Existence's Birth" so that's how I labeled it. Enjoy!

TRACKLIST
1. Ode to the Hockey Stick
2. Existence's Birth (?)
3. Silence Falls
4. Cigarette Lady
5. Borealis
